http://www.youtube.com/v/-j5J7lXav7Y&rel=0Youtube information-attribution: I made this presentation for a client. It is twenty-seven minutes long, and is unlike any of the other videos I have posted prior to this date; it will hold little interest for most people. The video posted as a response shows how to download a higher-quality version. Somewhere after minute 16, the narration gets scratchy for a few seconds. I hope to fix that, but since I haven't already, it probably won't be fixed. Category: Howto & Style Tags: BusInt OLAP SQL Server 2005 Star Schema Data Warehouse Mining Analysis Services

W. Edwards Deming, this unassuming statistician from Wyoming, focuses here on intrinsic motivation of individual human resources to transform industry through cooperation. He says "Extrinsic motivation (traditional management by objectives - performance appraisal) in the extreme, replaces the intrinsic motivation we are born with. Self esteem, dignity, cooperation, curiosity, a yearning for learning, these attributes are high at the beginning of life, but are gradually crushed out, diminished, year-by-year throughout life...Why crush them out? Why not nurture them?" http://www.youtube.com/v/kCL3sewRbkI&hl=enThis principle is at the heart of the change-management program that rebuilt Japan's infrastructure following WWII (and why the Deming Award remains the most prestigious prize in Japan). Let's bring it home to America because, as Mr. Deming war ...
